Free breakfast, lunch to be served at Florida schools

Dear Parent or Guardian(s),

We are thrilled to announce that, starting on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, all students enrolled at Florida Unified School District (Florida UFSD) will have the opportunity to enjoy FREE complete breakfast and lunch meals at school.

This positive change is possible thanks to the U.S. Department of Agriculture expanding access to the federal Community Eligibility Provision. CEP enables eligible schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs to provide school meals to all students at no cost.

The free meal program does not include additional milk, a la carte items or snacks. Students will still be charged for these items and must have cash or money in their account to purchase them.

Just a quick reminder: Parents or guardians still need to pay for any meal charges their students had before the free meal program started.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the School Lunch Manager at 845-651-3095, ext. 30153, or amuhlnickel@floridaufsd.org.

Thank you,
Lisamarie Spindler, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
