Car clips back of school bus waiting in traffic, no injuries

Today (Sept. 13), just after 2:30 p.m., the driver of a car clipped the back of a school bus with 12 students from S.S. Seward Institute on board. There were no injuries.

The bus had just left the school for dismissal and was waiting in traffic on Farries Avenue in the Village of Florida. A car driven by a student, trying to make a right turn onto Farries Avenue, clipped the right end of the bus with the right headlight, making a slight impact.

Village of Florida Police, Warwick EMT and the school nurse arrived at the scene to check on everyone.

Parents of all the students on the bus were contacted by building staff. Some parents picked their children up at the scene; others remained on the bus as it finished its route.

No charges have been filed at this time.
