March 22: Food pickups, remote learning, word of thanks

A letter from Superintendent Jan Jehring

Dear Parents, Guardians, Faculty and Staff,

On behalf of our Board of Education and school leaders, I want to thank you and your family for your support and flexibility during this unprecedented and challenging time for all of us.

No food pickup on Monday, March 23

Based on the weather forecast for the region tomorrow, we will be suspending meal pickup at S.S. Seward on Monday, March 23. Meal pickup will resume on Tuesday, March 24. Since two days of meals will be available on Tuesday, we request that participants bring a grocery bag to facilitate the pickup. A special thank you to our food workers and volunteers is also in order.

Buildings closed, essential functions only

Following Governor Cuomo’s most recent Executive Order, all District buildings will be closed and operations restricted to essential functions.

Remote learning

Learning and instructional activities will continue remotely. Our teachers are prepared and excited to continue the school year. We will navigate this new approach of instruction together. I look forward to seeing the interesting applications our teachers and students will use as we go forward.

A word of thanks

I know you will join me in recognizing and thanking the many individuals in our community who are on the front lines of this emergency, along with those who are ensuring all essential services remain accessible to us. We appreciate you and your families.

As we continue to social-distance ourselves in the weeks ahead, let’s be sure to stay connected! Please continue to check our website for updates.

Sincerely,

Jan Jehring
Superintendent of Schools
