The first day of school is Thursday, Sept. 6

The first day of school for students in the Florida Union Free School District is Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018.

Kindergarten and pre-k students are invited to meet their teachers and take a peek at their classrooms on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Students and their parents or guardians are encouraged to visit Golden Hill at these times:

  • Kindergarten Meet the Teacher (Last names beginning A-L): 1-1:30 p.m.
  • Kindergarten Meet the Teacher (Last names beginning M-Z): 1:30-2 p.m.
  • Pre-K Meet the Teacher: 1:15-2 p.m

Faculty and staff members have been preparing all summer for the arrival of students and the 2018-19 school year will bring new opportunities to learn and explore, among them:

  • A new partner in transportation. Quality Bus Service will provide transportation to our students.  The new buses have many safety features and the Florida UFSD name will be on the regular buses.
  • Law enforcement and security upgrades: Officers from the Town of Warwick Police Department and the Village of Florida Police Department will be on site to provide security and school building safety. Other upgrades including a visitor management system, additional surveillance and improvements to the notification systems will be put in place during the school year.
  • A new mobile app: Check out the Florida UFSD app in the App Store and Google Play. The app makes it easy to access school news, view menus, check sports schedules and receive notifications.

We look forward to a successful year. Enjoy the remaining weeks of the summer with family and friends. See you in September!
