S.S. Seward Principal Rheaume’s Corner: October news and upcoming Events

Graphic for message from principal

September has come and gone! We got off to an incredibly positive start this year. Students returned with smiles on their faces and the energy they exuded was contagious. We are so  proud of our kids and all that they do in our school, on stage, on the fields of play and everywhere they go. Throughout our region and state, Spartans are known as hard working, respectful young people.

Spartan Pride

You might ask, “How does he know?” that our kids are looked at in this way.  Admissions counselors from the many colleges we have visiting Seward tell me. Taking the time to talk with them about how our kids are doing, away from Seward, gives me great insight into the young men and women we send off into the world. As recently as last week, one spoke highly of the eight Florida graduates we have at his school. It was a proud moment for all of us to hear such positive news.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

An excellent way for you to stay connected to our school is to schedule parent/teacher conferences later this month. On October 16 and 24 from 6-8pm, and on October 25 during the day, we will be hosting these vital conferences. You should have received a letter and directions outlining how to schedule appointments via Sign Up Genius. We hope to see you at one of the days we offer. It is strongly suggested that you bring your student(s) with you to your scheduled conference.

Homecoming 2019

Later this month we will celebrate Homecoming 2019. With just over a week of Spirit Week activities, the Pep Rally, dances, the parade and games, Seward homecoming is as authentic a small town experience as they get.

Please encourage your child to be involved, to help build floats for their class at the high school level, and to participate in all of the planned activities. Homecoming is one of my favorite annual events, and I cannot wait to see this year’s edition.

It all happens the week of Oct. 14. Homecoming Parade is Saturday, Oct. 19, at 10:30 a.m.

See you there, Spartans!
