Lorine Van Put-Lamerand has joined the administrative staff of the Florida Union Free School District , bringing 26 years of experience in public school finance to the post.
Prior to coming to Florida as the District’s new school business administrator, Ms. Van Put-Lamerand served as business administrator for the Liberty Central School District in Sullivan County, N.Y. She has three daughters.
“I grew up in Sullivan County, and Florida reminds me of my hometown,” she said. “This is a small, close-knit community and I’ve always loved this area. I feel very much at home.”
As Florida’s school business administrator her many duties include the development of the annual school budget; management of the district’s fiscal affairs, and oversight of purchasing, payroll, and insurance programs. She says she lives by one rule: “Always do what’s best for kids.”
Ms. Van Put-Lamerand said her goal is to ensure that the District remains on solid fiscal footing while always seeking ways to preserve and enhance programs, safety, and the district’s two school buildings.
“I’m a planner,” she said. “I’ll make not only a Plan A and a Plan B, but we’ll always have a Plan C, too.”
