Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to school! We had a great start during the Remote Period and are ready to move on to the Phase-In Period. Here are some updates regarding the start of school.
Bus Routes: I want to take this opportunity to thank parents who selected to provide transportation for their children. That offer has allowed the District to reduce the capacity on the buses. Many other parents offered to consider providing transportation if necessary. At this time those students have been included on a bus route. Based on the information provided by parents on the Instruction Selection Form in mid-August, Quality Bus created the schedules that are attached in this email. September 8-11: The district will be on the Phase-In schedule. A-L will report for in-person instruction on Tuesday and Thursday. M-Z will report on Wednesday and Friday. Students who will not attend on the opposite days will participate remotely. All students who have selected remote instruction will follow the remote schedule. Students who attend CTEC will follow the schedule that has been sent previously and posted on the website. Please contact the S.S. Seward Main Office if there are questions about the CTEC schedule.
School Meals in School: Breakfast and lunch will be provided. There is no charge for meals through December 2020 but lunches must be pre-ordered by midnight the day before. Parents must order for Golden Hill and students or parents may order for S.S Seward. Click here for order form.
School Meals for Pick up at S.S. Seward: Breakfast and lunch will be available for pick up on Tuesday-Friday from 9-9:30 a.m. during the Phase-In period. Starting Sept. 14, pick-up will move to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule. If there is no school on a Monday, the pick-up will be on Tuesday of that week. There is no charge for meals through December 2020 but lunches must be pre-ordered by a student or parent by midnight the day before. Click here for order form.
Safety Measures: Some supplies have been delayed due to supply chain issues. As orders are received, they will be installed. These orders include walk through thermal scanners, touchless faucets and upgraded ventilation filters. The District has wrist thermal scanners in operation currently. The current ventilation meets NYSED guidelines but the District has chosen to upgrade the systems as the supplies are available.
Screening: Parents will receive a weekly screening form on Sundays that must be completed for each child and returned by the morning of the first school day of the week. If your child has any of the COVID-19 symptoms, is exposed to someone with COVID-19 or has traveled to an area on the advisory list, they are not allowed to attend school. We have to work together to keep our schools safe from infection. We appreciate your cooperation.
Athletics: Section 9 will be making a decision next week regarding a return to play for athletics. As a District, we are in support of return to play. Since this is a regional decision, the District will abide by the Section 9 recommendations.
Face Coverings: Additional information will be released about acceptable face coverings.
Additional Bus Runs: The District is unable to accommodate special bus stops other than regular routes.
YMCA Club Kids: Club Kids will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
After School Use of Buildings: After school use of buildings, other than school activities, has been suspended until further notice.
Academic Instruction Selection: Students will remain in the current academic selection of remote or in-person instruction for the first 10-week period. Additional information regarding the second 10-week period will be sent in late September.
