Golden Hill Principal’s Corner, May 2018

Hello everyone!

We are now in May!  Summer is right around the corner.  The month of April just zipped by! Here’s a bit of what’s been going on at Golden Hill:

  • Our pre-k had its “Bring a Friend to Lunch” event.  The students were so excited to have family and friends at school eating lunch with them.
  • A man talks to elementary students, sitting on the floor of the library
Author Jason LeFebvre visits Golden Hill students.

We held our kindergarten registration.  It afforded us the wonderful opportunity to meet new families and students. September will be here before you know it! Students eligible for kindergarten that have not yet registered should contact Kathleen Derevjanik, Registrar, at 651-3095 ext. 20050.

  • Our students were so fortunate to have grade level visits by Jason LeFebvre, author of the book “Too Much Glue.” He was so inspiring to students and captivated everyone’s attention. His energy and passion filled the library!
  • Last month our students participated in the NYS ELA and in May they are participating in the NYS math assessments in Grades 3-8.
  • Our kindergarten screening brought so many young children into our school.  For many,  it was their first experience in a school!  They looked so small and were so excited!  We can’t wait for them to join us in September.
  • Six female students read on a blanket on the school lawn
Golden Hill students read in the sunshine on a recent spring day.

Our students even got out on the lawn to read in mid-April in between the snow days!

  • The Art Show was a huge success.  The artwork that was displayed was unimaginable. Mr. Camia definitely has sparked the talent in many of our students.

There are so many wonderful events happening in May at Golden Hill.  We hope to see you here to help us celebrate!
