Free meals for children will continue through December

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended free meals for all children through Dec. 31, 2020.

Florida will serve free meals, both breakfast and lunch, to any student requesting a meal. School Food Services will continue to provide school breakfast and/or lunch to ALL students both in school and remote learners.

Meals will be modified to ensure student and staff safety. The district will serve all a unitized, bagged meal, which will contain all foods planned for the menu.

In-school lunches as well as lunches that are being picked up at S.S. Seward must be pre-ordered by midnight the day before.  Click here for order form.

Starting Sept. 14, pick-up will move to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule. If there is no school on a Monday, the pick-up will be on Tuesday of that week.

A typical breakfast will include:

  1. Whole grain rich foods like ready-to-eat cereal, bagel, muffins or protein food like cheese sticks, yogurt or hard cooked egg.
  2. 100% fruit juice
  3. 8 ounces of milk
  4. Fresh or chilled fruit

A typical lunch will include:

  1. 2 1/2 ounces of protein on whole grain bread, roll or wrap
  2. 1/2 cup of vegetables or 1 cup of dark green salad
  3. 4 ounces of 100% juice
  4. 1/2 cup fresh or chilled fruit
  5. 8 ounces of milk

No other food or beverages or water will be available for sale at this time.
