It’s hard to imagine a more memorable start to the holiday season for our schools and community than the cutting and sendoff of the 2019 Rockefeller Center holiday tree—with love from Florida, NY.
Our students couldn’t hide their excitement as they watched their small village become the subject of prime-time newscasts, and many in the community worked together to make sure they were a part of this magical moment. 
Golden Hill students arrived decked with festive headbands and S.S. Seward choir students graced everyone with holiday singing. Neighbors welcomed students and staff onto their property for the celebration, while others assembled along Main Street to cheer for the tree on its way to New York City.
“This event was a cooperative effort of the community, police, fire department and the schools,” said Superintendent of Schools Jan Jehring. “It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with the Village of Florida and to kickoff the holiday season!”
