Florida UFSD Board of Education member John T. Redman was recently re-elected as the Area 9 director for the New York State School Boards Association. As Area 9 director, he represents school districts in Orange, Dutchess, Sullivan, Ulster and Greene counties.
NYSSBA provides advocacy, training and information to school boards in support of their mission to govern the state’s public schools. The NYSSBA board establishes policies to supervise, control and direct the business of the Association.
Redman has been a member of the Florida school board since 2000, where he had served as president and vice president. He has twice achieved Board Mastery designations from NYSSBA.
He served three years as president of the Orange County School Boards Association and served two years on the steering committee for the Council of Local School Board Associations. He received the Mid-Hudson School Study Council Excellence Award for School Board Service.
Redman is president of the Union Square Group, a creative services firm, designing and producing promotional and award presentations and one-of-a-kind events for corporate clients across the country.
He has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and drama from The Colorado College, where he also taught part time before moving to New York. He has more than 40 years’ experience in the performing and communications arts from theater, dance and opera to film and video production.
