April 7: Schools closed through April 29, Regents cancelled

As you may be aware, on Monday, April 6, Governor Cuomo announced that schools will now be closed through April 29. The state will re-evaluate after this additional period.

We will continue to instruct and support our students, families and staff to provide continuity of learning, free meals available to all students, and no-cost childcare services for school-aged children of emergency workers. (Please find corresponding links at the top of this page.)

Regents exams

Also announced earlier today, the New York State Education Department cancelled Regents exams for June. We are expecting further guidance from the state about the cancellation’s impact on our students later this week. We will update families as soon as we learn more information.

New mental health resources

During his April 6 press conference, Governor Cuomo announced that the State is partnering with the company Headspace to provide New Yorkers with free meditation and mindfulness resources. “We can’t underestimate the impact this public health crisis has on mental health,” the Governor said. New Yorkers can access a collection of free guided meditations, along with at-home mindfulness exercises and additional resources to help address rising stress and anxiety.
